A Pioneering Visit: Whitby Lobster Hatchery Welcomes Distinguished Guests

In a great occasion for the Whitby Lobster Hatchery, the town mayor, Cllr Dalrymple, alongside county Chairman Cllr Ireton and county councillor Cllr Swannick, visited the facility recently. This visit not only highlighted the vital role the hatchery plays in marine conservation but also showcased the remarkable progress achieved.

The Whitby Lobster Hatchery welcomed a trio of distinguished guests as Mayor Cllr Dalrymple, County Mayor David Ireton, and County Councillor Neil Swannick embarked on a tour of the facility, immersing themselves in the world of marine conservation.

General Manager Joe Redfern and trustee fisherman James Cole, led the tour around both the Marine Discovery Centre and the Whitby Lobster Hatchery.

Chairman David Ireton, who had previously visited the hatchery, expressed his astonishment at the strides made since his last visit. "It's truly remarkable to witness the evolution and growth of the Whitby Lobster Hatchery. The commitment to conservation and the positive changes implemented are a testament to the dedication of all involved," remarked Mayor Ireton.

As the tour unfolded, Mayor Cllr Dalrymple shared insights into the vision that has propelled the hatchery to new heights. The emphasis on sustainable practices and the conservation of the local lobster population has not only benefited the marine ecosystem but has also positioned the hatchery as a valuable asset to the town and coastline.

County Councillor Neil Swannick, impressed by the innovative initiatives in place, expressed his support for the hatchery's mission. "The Whitby Lobster Hatchery serves as a beacon of environmental stewardship. The dedication to research, education, and the overall well-being of our coastal environment is commendable and sets an example for other communities to follow."

In conclusion, the visit from Mayor Cllr Dalrymple, County Mayor David Ireton, and County Councillor Neil Swannick not only celebrated the achievements of the Whitby Lobster Hatchery but reinforced its role as a cornerstone in the town's commitment to marine conservation. As the hatchery continues to thrive, it stands as a testament to the positive impact that collaboration and dedication can have on safeguarding our oceans and coastal communities.
